Sitting and breathing 🧘♀️
Hi girlfriend,
This past Sunday, we gathered on the beach for a special breathwork session. I have to admit, I didn't know much about sitting and breathing, and I wanted to learn about it, and I wanted my girlfriends to experience it with me.
Our guide, Kayla, traveled from New Hampshire in the drizzle to meet us. We sat in a circle on towels in the sand, and she led us through this beautiful visualization process, unlike anything I had experienced before. I went into it a little distracted, thinking about the event I was running, so I wasn't expecting much. But WOW. I was totally sucked in and moved.
At one point during the session, I saw my dad, who passed away years ago, and the tears came down uncontrollably. My body was actually shaking. I knew I was in a safe space, and Kayla reassured us that it was okay to be vulnerable.
I asked Kayla if she would write what she shared with us so you could also experience it. As you read this, I invite you to get into a comfortable position, maybe put on a waves sound machine, and close your eyes. See what visuals and thoughts come to you. Maybe it won't do much the first time, and that's okay. You can read it again later and see if it hits differently.
Take a read through and let me or Kayla know what you experienced. We'd love to know and support you as you go through this breathwork with us.
Breath is a powerful tool that we all have unlimited access to. When we use it with intention, we can turn down the volume in our minds and tune in to the sensations in our bodies.
It’s like a broom, use it to sweep through your body, your home. Clean the floors of any debris that’s built up over time, stagnant energy that you have accumulated and suppressed.
Use the breath to create space within you. Where in your life are you playing small? Where are you telling yourself you’re not good enough, worthy enough, smart enough, strong enough? Use the breath to let go of that story, give yourself permission to take up space!
Let the breath clear a path back to the innermost you.
Breath is the connection of returning home to YOU. It’s the bridge. Imagine standing in a forest, a beautiful wooden bridge before you. With each breath you take, place one foot in front of you.
As you come to the top of the bridge, you feel the warmth of the sun, a cool mist from the fog kisses your face, and you hear the birds chirping and the sounds of a bubbling brook beneath you. As you take one step at a time, one breath at a time, you begin to notice something at the end of the bridge.
As you walk closer, you see this figure before you start to appear. You’re standing at the other side of the bridge now and you realize you’re looking at yourself. A version of you that you have been longing for. She’s standing there confident, glowing with a big, beautiful smile.
It’s YOU, your authentic self, standing in her truth and power, staring back at you. You feel so drawn to her that you reach out and embrace her, holding each other in your arms. You feel this deep connection. She is you, and you are her - you merge together as ONE.
Welcome back home.
xoxo
