Everyone wants them, but no one has them: GOALS
Step 1: Brainstorming
OK, gf. I just got back from the gym with a new idea. I've been trying to shove everything about goal-setting into one newsletter, which is impossible. There is a ton of stuff to discuss, from what's holding you back to how to align your goals with your values and take action on your goals—so much more than I can fit here, and I'm tired and need to go to bed.
So we will do 2 things: 1, I will break this up into a 4-part series. And 2, shoot me a note if you're interested in learning more, and I'll create a workshop to go through this in depth. Some of the framework I'm using is from a book my friend gave me by Brian Tracy called GOALS! I am trying to break it down and summarize and include my favorite tricks and tips so it's doable and, dare I say, FUN to set and keep goals!
It's a lot to unpack, and I don't want to rush it here, but even just starting the conversation is better than avoiding it because of the work involved. You know what? Let me know if you want to do it live over Zoom or if you prefer to do it on your own with a downloadable worksheet/video.
So the other day, I sat in my car and did the ugly cry. 😭 And it's a lot, partly because I've been so busy running after ALL the things and feeling like I'm getting nowhere. And I'm guessing you're nodding your head, too. And it has a lot to do with not having goals. Before you stop reading and think I'm not talking about you, tell me right now, what is a goal of yours? Did I stump you? Yeah, keep reading.
First, let's be honest. People avoid setting goals because we fear failure and believe we can't reach them! We struggle to set goals without a clear understanding of what we want to achieve. With so much already on our to-do list, we're overwhelmed. Without a strong sense of purpose or belief in the value of goal-setting, we just don't see the importance of investing time and effort into the process.
But making goals HELPS! Goals provide a sense of direction and purpose! Goals inspire you to take action and keep going when things are so hard! They allow you to track progress and celebrate achievements along the way. Goals help you focus your time, resources, and energy. They help with decision-making and staying aligned with your values and priorities. So let's make them!
Only 3% of the population sets goals, and less than 1% write them down. If you write them down, you increase your chances of reaching them by 40%‼️So grab a pen and paper and start today.
Step 1: Brainstorm your goals
Evaluate your current situation to create a vision of what you want to achieve in the immediate, short-term, and long-term.
Remember to write them down with pen and paper, so print this out!
Brainstorm 3 goals you want to achieve in the immediate future (next few weeks to a month):
1.
2.
3.
Brainstorm 3 goals you want to achieve in the short term (next six months to a year):
1.
2.
3.
Brainstorm 3 goals you want to achieve in the long term (next several years):
1.
2.
3.
That's all for now. Take some time over the next week to prepare for Step 2 on Tuesday. In the meantime, update me on how the brainstorming is going!
Love you. Gotta go. Bye. ✌🏻
xoxo
