Empowering our daughters

Confidence-building for young athletes

After the election results, it’s more apparent than ever that we must amplify our voices and take action to support young females. Our mission to empower and represent our girls remains unwavering—they need to know they are valued, supported, and seen.

A friend shared something with me that I’ve been thinking about and I have to do something about it. Her daughter, a talented young athlete, battles self-doubt before stepping on the field. She wrote:

“We struggle with confidence all the time! My amazing 13-year-old daughter has self-doubt at every game. They don’t realize how powerful they are being a female in sports. Girls need to support their girls, not criticize or tear down. At this age, they’re learning boundaries and how to be positive, encouraging, and not mean. It’s an exhausting topic!”

This message captures a story I hear all too often. So many of our girls—talented, strong, and full of potential—are doubting themselves. That’s why I’m taking a stand. I’m launching confidence-building programming designed to empower girls, equip them with resilience, and keep them engaged in sports.

70% of girls quit sports by age 13 due to pressure.

45% of girls stop playing sports by age 14 due to low body confidence.

94% of C-suite women having played sports.

The benefits are clear: Girls who stay in sports achieve higher academically, report lower anxiety, and build the leadership skills that serve them for a lifetime.

Confidence extends beyond the playing field—it’s the strength to speak up, try new things, and support each other. Sports provide a powerful metaphor for teamwork, resilience, and ambition. Here is an initial plan and ways you can support.

Workshops: Building Confidence, Connection, and Resilience

These workshops are designed to provide a hands-on, supportive space for girls in grades 5-8. Here’s a look at what they’ll offer:

  • Hands-on confidence exercises: Activities focused on fostering positive self-talk, self-image, and setting achievable goals.

  • Role model mentorship: Older athletes will guide younger girls, demonstrating that their dreams are within reach on and off the field.

  • Skills for life: Practical strategies for handling setbacks, overcoming self-doubt, and developing supportive friendships that last.

Addressing common challenges these young athletes face:

  • Managing self-doubt: Tools to handle nerves before, during, and after games.

  • Strengthening confidence: Building confidence in sports and personal life.

  • Encouraging participation: Strategies for overcoming shyness and reluctance to participate fully.

  • Supporting each other: Emphasizing friendship among female athletes.

  • Setting boundaries and practicing positivity: Showcasing how to stay positive while respecting boundaries.

  • Bouncing back from setbacks: Learning to move forward from mistakes or negative experiences with resilience.

3 ways you can help make a difference today:

  1. Sponsor this initiative: Please connect me with someone who has the resources to contribute. Someone at your office, in your LinedIn network, in your school or team. This is a community effort, and together, we can ensure our girls have every opportunity to succeed. Not just financially, but also with the tangible resources like venues to host events. Your support will help us reach more girls by making this program accessible to all, regardless of their family’s financial situation.

  2. Let me know you’re in: If your child would like to be involved if you have ideas to contribute, or if you’d like to participate directly. I’m also seeking older athletes interested in giving back—an excellent way to build their resumes, grow their confidence, and inspire younger athletes. If we can host events in communities where girls can be brave enough to attend with or without their friends no matter if they are playing on the same team, that’s where we start. We just need to open the door to get them in the room.

  3. Spread the word: Share this email with friends, your teams, and companies that are passionate about empowering the next generation of female leaders. Community support is vital to building a foundation of confidence, unity, and resilience for our girls. This initiative isn’t just about sports—it’s about creating spaces where our girls feel seen, heard, and encouraged.

These girls need someone other than their coach and parents to remind them that they can do it. They need all of us - an entire community that believes in their potential and encourages them to keep pushing forward. That’s what we’re here to create—a supportive, inspiring space where they can feel seen, heard, and motivated to reach for more. Because these stats exist, I see a need for this space. You can't keep just doing the same thing over and over again and expect to get different results. There is a problem if girls quit, and we must find a solution together.

Thank you for voting to be part of this movement.

PS. These workshops offer endless growth opportunities—not just for the girls but for you, too. This initiative can evolve into a space where daughters and mothers connect as a team, learning how to ask for and give each other the support they need. Confidence building is a lifelong journey, and through these workshops, we’re creating spaces where everyone—at any age—can work together to build resilience, self-belief, and a supportive community.
