10 Steps To Bringing Dreams to Life π
Tips on how to start today
I was on the phone trying to explain what I did for a living when I was at a loss for words (and if you know me, that never happens!). π³ I wanted to say I was a speaker, events host, group facilitator, etc. But I am not those things. I just haven't. Yet.
You actually HAVE TO DO the things you want to do.
And yet I sit. I wait. For someone to reach out to me out of the blue and say, "OH! There you are! Come speak to us! Please lead an event for us! Can we hire you?" And honestly, I've had those requests. And I have gotten my spirits up SO HIGH. π₯°
And then nothing. These things never come to fruition for various reasons, but I know the real reason: ME. I'm in my own way. I'm the one who's stopping me. Hi, it's me, I'm the problem, it's me. π€¦ββοΈ
We hesitate to take the leap and get started because we fear our vision may look differently than we imagine. We wait for everything to line up perfectly before we make our move. But here's the thing: the journey begins when you start where you are, with what you have right now. Embrace the imperfect, and trust that your vision will evolve as you progress.
Since I don't want to feel like crap anymore about NOT doing the things I dream of, I will start chipping away at them the best I can today with what I have. I'm not waiting for anyone to save me anymore, and neither are you! π¦ΈπΌββοΈ
And here's how: try these with me and see what works for you
1οΈβ£ Identify what it is you genuinely want. π€ Write those things down, don't just think about them. Then take each one and break them down. What does that mean if I say I want to host an event? For whom? Doing what? Where? Really write out each answer so it becomes so clear. Flush it out in words. Literally, WRITE IT ALL DOWN.
2οΈβ£ Get the dream in your head on paper so you can visually see it. π Create a vision board. I'm ALWAYS making one. When I see something I like on social, I save it to a folder marked "IG Vision Board" or "TWT Events Vision Board" to categorize them and make them easily visible. Then I go through each one, take screenshots, and put them on a Pages document. I'm also OBSESSED with Pinterest. Just type in a search word, and voila! Ideas galore! π‘
Then I play around with sizing, moving them around so they fit. βοΈ Remember, this is not a race. Let this process take its time. It should be fun to see your thoughts come through as images. I really like looking at the progress at the end, seeing how I've made a color pattern or how the photos, all so different, are all connected. Try one of your own or several, depending on the themes you're working on. Let them serve as the guide of your destiny and believe in the power of your dreams.

3οΈβ£ Now you know what you want, describe it in words, and give it a vision you can see. It's time to figure out the steps you will take to get started. π Take each goal and break it down to something so small it's practically ridiculous that you don't do it right now. For example, if I want to host an event and share my experience of jumping off the pier in Gloucester, which changed my life, how would I go about that? Start listing what it would look like, how it would flow, and what elements I'd need. Even making these lists is taking the first step! Look at how simple that was! Now you do it! π
4οΈβ£ Ask for help/advice/feedback. ππΌββοΈ Even though I don't need help running this event (for crying out loud, I've hosted events my entire career), donβt be a martyr. If you're the host of your goal, get a team you can trust for support. Even if you don't hire them, the questions they'll ask will make you do more research and poke holes in your plans, which is good! Even if you don't hire them, the questions they'll ask will make you do more research and poke holes in your plans, which is good!
5οΈβ£ Be kind to yourself on this journey. Celebrate your wins, no matter how small, and acknowledge that setbacks are a natural part of growth. You can't beat yourself up for not being further along. GF! GIVE YOURSELF A FREAKING PAT ON THE BACK FOR HAVING THE SELF-LOVE TO DREAM. YOU are the one putting these goals into your head and heart. YOU are the one who's reading this email to get advice on how to attain them. YOU are the one who's doing all this! LOVE YOURSELF!!!!! BRA-FREAKING-VO!!!! β£οΈ
6οΈβ£ Close your eyes. Visualize yourself achieving your dreams. π Imagine the joy, fulfillment, and confidence you'll feel once you realize your vision. EVEN IF it's scary seeing you doing the thing, enjoy the thrill of DOING IT. Pay attention to all the details. What are you wearing? Who are you with? Where are you? How do you feel? Add all of those learnings to your lists and keep going.
7οΈβ£ Share your journey and aspirations with a friend, family member, or mentor (ME!). π€ Opening up can strengthen your commitment and accountability. Whenever I talk about my ideas, I get more insights, even by explaining the concept. Sure, this can be scary in itself, sharing your dreams with someone, but honestly, it has to come out sometime, so choose someone you trust that's not going to shoot you down. Even talking to yourself in the mirror or recording a video of yourself helps just by giving it words makes a huge difference.
9οΈβ£ So I could go on and on, but you know what comes next! π Today is when you decide to move forward, stop waiting for the perfect moment, and start where you are. Ask yourself, "What is the most important thing for me today?" Trust your intuition, and take that first step toward your vision (like actually take it, don't just think about it).
π SMILE GOSH DARN IT. π You are not alone in this journey. Look around you, embrace the love & support, and donβt forget to uplift others as you chase your dreams. Let's embrace the journey together, with all its imperfections and surprises, knowing that every step brings us closer to the life we envision.
What if you start today? (Do you notice how I didnβt say will you start today? Then you can say βnoβ or come up with an excuse. "What if" leaves you wondering, what if you did start today? Where would that get you?)
Only you can answer.
Love you. Gotta go. Byeeeeeee!!! βπ»
π In the spirit of taking action today, I'd like to ask you a question. ππΌββοΈ If I put together that dream event of mine, jumping off the pier in Gloucester, would you go? Jumping off the pier changed my life & it might do something for you too. It'll be an incredible experience, I promise. Let me know, and I'll add your name to the list, and we'll make it happen IRL! Thank you so much for helping to make it a reality, not just a vision!
xoxo
